Born in the village of Palhalan in Kashmir's Baramulla district, Arinimal lived during the eighteenth century and wrote verses of romantic love and longing, using the lyric lōl form introduced by Habba Khatun in the sixteenth century. Her verses have become part of the Kashmiri oral literary tradition and are sung even today.
