Anne Fountain

Anne (Anita) Fountain was born in Buenos Aires and earned graduate degrees at Indiana University and Columbia University. She is currently a professor of Latin American literature and culture and coordinator of Latin American Studies at San José State University. Her recent publications include José Martí and U.S. (2003) and Versos Sencillos: A Dual Language Edition (2005). Her translations of Martí's poetry have also appeared in The New Anthology of American Poetry (Vol. I: Traditions and Revolutions, Beginnings to 1900) (Rutgers University Press, 2003); A History of Modern Latin America (2nd edition) (Thompson Wadsworth, 2005); and Bomb. A translation of Nancy Alonso's Cerrado por Reparación [Closed for Repairs] is forthcoming from Curbstone Press.
