Andrei Ivanov was born in 1971 into a Russian family living in Estonia. His novels, written in Russian, are A Handful of Dust (2011), Hanuman’s Journey to Lolland (2009), Bizarre (2012), and Confession of a Lunatic (2015); they recount his experiences in Scandinavia. He was shortlisted for the Russian Booker Prize twice and was awarded the Novaya Slovestnost literary prize in 2013 for his historical novel The Harbin Moths, dedicated to Russian emigrants who lived in Estonia between the two world wars.
