Spangler returned to Turkey in 1999, where she worked as an English teacher and freelance translator before being hired by Çitlembik Publications in 2001 as the fledgling company's publications coordinator and rights manager. Spangler left Çitlembik in 2004 to establish her own copyright and literary agency, AnatoliaLit. In addition to her work as a literary and copyright agent, Spangler continues to work as a translator, translating for various periodicals and feminist NGO's in Turkey. She is also the translator of Asli Erdogan's novel,
The City in Crimson Cloak (Soft Skull, 2007) and co-editor (with Mustafa Ziyalan) and translator of
Istanbul Noir (Akashic Books, 2008).
