Altaf Fatima

Altaf Fatima was born in Lucknow. Upon Partition in 1947 she migrated to Pakistan and settled in Lahore where she earned an MA and BEd from the University of Punjab. She is counted as a leading figure among women Urdu writers and has published several collections of short stories in addition to four novels. Her second novel was translated into English as The One Who Did Not Ask (Heinemann 1993).
