Poet, critic, and translator was born in Leningrad. His poetry has been translated into English, Estonian, Finish, French, Hebrew, Italian and Swedish. His poetry collections include Delirium, In the Re-Reading, and most recently Red Shift. His critical works include Critical Mass and The Resistance to/of Poetry. His many translations include books as well as short stories, poems, and criticism, and his translation of Kali by Martin Enkell earned him the 1997 Zarskoselskii Literary Award. In 2006 he was awarded the Andrei Bely Prize for Red Shift.
