Ahmad Mostofa Kamal

Dr. Ahmad Mostofa Kamal is Assistant Professor of Physics in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Independent University, Bangladesh. He was born in 1969 in Manikganj district, which is bordered on the west by the Padma river. Outside his academic life, he is an award-winning writer and well-known public intellectual in Bangladesh....

His fiction, literary criticism, and essays are regularly published in newspapers, magazines, and literary journals.

He has published seven collections of short stories: Ditiyo Manush, Amra Ekti Golper Jonyo Opekkha Korchhi, Ondhokare Kichhui Dekha Jacchye Na Bole, Ghar-bhorti Manush Othoba Noishobdya, Bhor Othoba Shandhyara Namchhe Bedonay, Osru o Roktopater Golpo, and Ekla Thakar Golpo.

He is also the author of six novels: Agontuk, Ondho Jadukor, Kannaporbo, Porompora, Borshamonjoree, and Onyo Kothao Onyo Konokhane; and two collections of essays on social, cultural, and philosophical topics: Shongshoyeeder Ishwar and Shilpeer Daay, Shilper Shakti.

His novel Ondho Jadukor received the HSBC-Kali o Kolom Award for Best Novel of the year in 2009, and his story collection Ghar-bhorti Manush Othoba Noishobdya received the Best Book of the Year Award from the Prothom Alo newspaper in 2007.
