Agnes Lam

Agnes Lam is a Macau-born scholar and writer and the vice-president of Macau PEN. She began contributing poems to local newspapers at thirteen. In 1999, she won the Champion of Macau Literature Prize (Poetry Session) for “This City I Come From.” She writes columns for several local Chinese and Portuguese newspapers and is the author of ten books. Lam was a television journalist and news anchor before entering academic life in 2007 and is now an associate professor of communications at the University of Macau. She also runs a local youth magazine and is active in local politics as the president of Macau Civic Power, a local political advocacy association.
