Ae-ran Kim was born in Incheon in 1980 and graduated from the playwriting department of the Korean National University of Arts Theater School. Kim debuted in 2002 with the receipt of the first Daesan University Literary Prize for “The Family with No Privacy.” In 2005 she was awarded the Daesan Creative Grant, and was the youngest writer in history to receive the 38th Hankook Ilbo Literary Prize. She won the ninth Lee Hyo-seok Literary Prize for her short story “Knife Marks.” Her books include the short story collections Run, Dad; Mouthwatering; and Seoul Becomes a Novel One Day, and her first novel, The Youngest Parents with the Oldest Child, which was published in France, China, Japan, and Vietnam.
