David Bellos was educated at Oxford and now teaches French and comparative literature at Princeton University. He is the principal translator of the works of Georges Perec, and has also translated many other authors, including Ismail Kadare and Tzvetan Todorov. He is the author of two biographies-Georges Perec. A Life in Words (1993) and Jacques Tati. His Life and Art (1999)-and is currently working on a study of Romain Gary.
