Reading the World with Georges Simenon

We’re very pleased to announce the launch of our September Book Club on Georges Simenon’s The Engagement, as part of the Reading the World series. This month, discussion will be headed by guest bloggers Chad Post from Three Percent, translator Anna Moschovakis and Rolling Stone contributor, Mark Binelli. We encourage you to pick up a copy and join in the discussion. The Engagement is a work of chilling psychological drama underlined by a compassionate humanity; as with all things, the more the merrier!

Here’s the line up of books that we will be featuring in the coming months:

SEPTEMBER: Chad Post and Mark Binelli on Georges Simenon’s The Engagement (tr. by Anna Moschovakis)

OCTOBER: Mark Sarvas on Sandor Marai’s The Rebels (tr. by George Szirtes)

NOVEMBER: Michael Orthofer, Ryunosuke Akutagawa’s Mandarins (tr. by Charles de Wolf)

DECEMBER: Laila Lailami on Carmara Laye’s The Radiance of the King (tr. James Kirkup)

JANUARY: James Marcus, title TK

And for more information on participants in the Reading the World series and featured authors, take a look over here.

Here’s to a great month reading The Engagement and welcome to Chad, Anna and Mark.
