Magdy El Shafee’s “Metro” to be Published in English

We're delighted to report that Magdy El Shafee's graphic novel, Metro, will be published by Metropolitan Books in early 2012. Readers will recall that WWB published an extract in February 2008, and that the book was seized on publication in Egypt and Magdy and his publisher put on trial. You can hear Magdy talk about his book in this interview. Metro will be in good company: Metropolitan publishes Joe Sacco's Footnotes in Gaza: A Graphic Novel and Ari Folman's Waltz with Bashir: A Lebanon War Story. And with the revolution, this banned book may finally see publication in Egypt as well.
