Per Kristian Nygård was born in 1979 in Arendal, Norway, and earned an MFA from Malmö Art Academy in 2010. He lives in Svartlamon and works at Lademoen Artist Studios in Trondheim. Nygård is noted for his spatial installations and sculptures, exploring issues such as architecture and ideology.
In recent years, he has been part of the self-building experimental housing project at Svartlamon in Trondheim, where five families have built their own houses, which they will later rent from the Svartlamon Housing Foundation. Nygaard has exhibited at NoPlace Gallery in Oslo, ARoS, the Århus Art Museum, the Miró Foundation in Barcelona, the Akershus Art Center, and the RAKE showroom in Trondheim and the Aaros Art Museum in Århus, among others.
