Originally from Lebanon, Nicole Fares is a translator, writer, and educator with a PhD in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies from the University of Arkansas, with research centering on Arab LGBTQ communities in the MENA region, Europe, and North America.
She has worked with the United Nations and Amnesty International in addition to translating two novels, Mahmoud Shukair’s Jerusalem Stands Alone and Sahar Mandour’s 32. Currently, she is co-translating another of Mandour’s novels, To Draw a Star on Vienna’s Forehead.
