Mohamed Leftah was born in Settat, Morocco, in 1946. He attended engineering school in Paris and returned to Morocco in 1972. He worked as a literary journalist at Matin du Sahara and Temps du Maroc, and published Demoiselles de Numidie in 1992. He moved to Cairo in 2000 and died there in 2008. Éditions de la Différence is publishing his extensive unpublished work.
