Marcela Trujillo is a painter and cartoonist from Chile. She has a BA in visual art and a painting degree from the University of Chile, and she completed the Fine Arts Program at the Arts Students League of New York, where she won the Lloyd Sherwood grant in 1999. Marcela lived in New York City for seven years and in Hamburg for two years.
She has exhibited her paintings in Chile, the United States, and Canada since 1990, and she has published six comic books since 2008. Her latest graphic novel, Idol: An Almost Real Story (Reservoir Books, 2017), won the 2018 Municipal Literature Prize. She is cofounder of the female comic podcast “La Polola” and coeditor of Brigida magazine, comics made by women. She lives and works in Santiago, Chile.
