Izidora Angel is a Bulgarian-born writer and literary translator. She is a 2023 NEA Translation Fellow for her work on Yordanka Beleva’s collection of stories, Keder. Her other book-length translations include Hristo Karastoyanov’s The Same Night Awaits Us All and Nataliya Deleva’s Four Minutes.
Izidora’s writing has been featured in Astra Magazine, Chicago Reader, Electric Literature, Sublunary Editions, and elsewhere. Her work has received support from English PEN, Art Omi, Bread Loaf, the Rona Jaffe Foundation, and others. Izidora is writing a book about a family’s forced, prolonged separation across continents. She lives in Chicago with her husband and three daughters and is a founding member of the Third Coast Translators Collective.
