Carolina De Robertis is a writer and translator of Uruguayan origins, and the author of three novels: The Gods of Tango, Perla, and the international bestseller The Invisible Mountain, all published by Knopf. Her fiction has been translated into seventeen languages, and has received a Stonewall Book Award, an NEA fellowship, and various other honors.
She is also the editor of the activist anthology Radical Hope: Letters of Love and Dissent in Dangerous Times. Her literary translations include the novels The Neruda Case, by Roberto Ampuero, which was a finalist for a Northern California Book Award in Translation, and Bonsai, by Alejandro Zambra, which was named one of the Ten Best Translations of the Year by the journal Three Percent. Her translations have also appeared in Granta, Zoetrope: All-Story, Two Lines, and elsewhere. She teaches creative writing at San Francisco State University, where she oversees the new MFA program in literary translation.
