Elisabeth Jaquette is executive director of Words Without Borders and a literary translator from Arabic.
Her translations include Minor Detail by Adania Shibli (a finalist for the National Book Awards, longlisted for the International Booker Prize), Thirteen Months of Sunrise by Rania Mamoun (a finalist for the Warwick Prize for Women in Translation), and The Queue by Basma Abdel Aziz. Elisabeth has taught literary translation at Bread Loaf Translators’ Conference, Hunter College, CUNY, and for the British Council, and served as a judge for the National Book Award in Translated Literature and the NEA Literary Translation Fellowships, among other prizes. She holds a MA from Columbia University and a BA from Swarthmore College, and was a CASA Fellow at the American University in Cairo. Prior to joining WWB, Elisabeth served as executive director of the American Literary Translators Association.
