Wanning Chen moved from Taiwan to Beijing in 2009 to work for an environmental organization, and while she was there, she volunteered at the Beijing Queer Center. Upon her return to Taiwan in 2014, she began volunteering at the Taiwan Tongzhi LGBTQ+ Hotline Association.
