Vaibhav Sharma is a poet and translator from India and is currently pursuing his MA in comparative literature from Delhi University. He translates between Hindi and English, with a particular interest in works of fiction dealing with regional dialects of Hindi, and wishes to translate experimental and unconventional writing.
He was selected as the 2023 Saroj Lal Hindi Translation mentee under the National Centre for Writing Emerging Translator Mentorship Program and is currently being mentored by Daisy Rockwell. His translation of Ravindra Kalia’s short story “Life in the Big City” was published in Out of Print, and his upcoming translations include Anil Yadav’s debut story collection Courtesans Don’t Read Newspapers, Amit Dutta’s novel This Village Doesn’t Exist, and a short story collection by Ravindra Kalia. He was shortlisted for the 2023 Armory Square Prize for South Asian Literature in Translation.
