Triunfo Arciniegas is a prolific author of stories and plays, with over twenty books in print. He has won several prizes for his work, including the Premio Enka de Literatura Infantil in 1989 and the Premio Nacional de Literatura de ColCultura in 1993.
His work has also appeared in many anthologies, including Colombia à chœr ouvert (Paris, 1991) and Cuentos breves latinoamericanos (Buenos Aires, Coedición Latinoamericana, 1998). The story published here is his first translation into English.
