Read More She is the author of the award-winning Cambodge: The Cultivation of a Nation (Hawai’i University Press, 2008), over twenty articles on the political and cultural history of Cambodia and Burma, and the co-editor of six volumes including Lost in the Whitewash: Aboriginal-Asian Encounters in Australia from Federation to Reconciliation (2003), Pigments of the Imagination: Rethinking Mixed Race (2007), and Mediating Chineseness in Cambodia (2013).  Her previous translations from Chinese and Khmer include China’s Nature Reserves (Foreign Languages Press, Beijing, 1986) and A Short History of the Buddhist Institute (Buddhist Institute, Phnom Penh, 2005).  She is currently translating Soth Polin's l’Anarchiste, plotting an anthology of new Burmese literature in translation, and still searching for the voices, places, and traces of the Myngun Prince of Burma (1841–1921), whose story she eventually hopes to channel in some genre.
