Nashville Solomon writes as Nashville Blaauw, adopting the surname of his mother and ancestors. He was born and grew up in Elsies River and teaches at Elsies River High School; he is also the pastor of the House of Elijah Prophetic Ministries in the town.
He published his first poetry collection, Ek was gebore daar, in 2018 and his second, Ek slaan my oë op na die flats, in 2020 and is preparing his third collection, In ‘n coloured huis. Blaauw writes on issues of the Cape Flats and the history of the people of the Cape. He also researches the history of Elsies River, which was founded in the 1600’s, and the history of his own family, and assists others in researching their family histories.
