Müge İplikçi was born in Istanbul. She first graduated from Istanbul University English Language and Literature Department. After her master's degrees at Istanbul University and at The Ohio State University, she worked as a teacher in a wide range of schools. Read More She is the author of the short-story collections Perende (1998), Columbus'un Kadınları (2000), Arkası Yarın (2001), and Transit Yolcular (2002), the novels Kül ve Yel (2004) and Cemre (2006), and the scholarly books Yıkık Kentli Kadınlar and Cımbızın Çektikleri (with Ümran Kartal). Her work has been translated in multiple languages, and she has won first place in the 1996 Yaşar Nabi Nayır Youth Awards and third place in the Haldun Taner story branch. She was a member of Writers in Prison Committee (WIPC) of the Turkish PEN Centre for three years and now is the chairperson of the Turkish Women Writers Committee.
