Mercè Ibarz (Saidí, 1954) is writer, essayist, cultural researcher and journalist. Her work includes novels, short stories and biographical portraits, as well work and research on literature, art, film and photography. She has organized exhibitions about the visual art of Mercè Rodoreda and Luis Buñuel’s documentary work.
She is professor of visual arts at the University Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona). A journalist since 1976, she is currently a columnist for El País and VilaWeb. Her work has appeared in English in Best European Fiction 2011 and New Catalan Fiction, both published by Dalkey Archive Press. She has won several awards for her work.
