Maria Fasce was born in Buenos Aires in 1969. She has worked as an editor and translator into Spanish from English, French, Italian, and Portuguese. As a journalist she has contributed reviews and specialist articles to various cultural magazines and newspapers. Her work is hilarious and easily digested.
Her cunning observations on contemporary female society and the problems of women in general are a particularly appealing dimension of her writing. Her short stories have been translated into many languages and included in anthologies, and she has published a collection, La Felicidad de las Mujeres. Her first novel, La Verdad Según Virginia, will be published in French by Editions Gallimard in February 2004 and in Spanish by Sexi Barral later this year.
