Kristin Bengtson Mendoza received a Fulbright grant in 2004-2005 to study folklore, language, and culture in the western highlands of Guatemala. She has translated the journals of Mexican painter Remedios Varo as well as a selection of stories from Stories of Joyabaj by Francisco Méndez. She teaches English as a Second Language and lives in Brooklyn, New York.
