Juan Carlos Cortázar was born in Lima, Peru, in 1964. He holds a degree in creative writing from Diego Portales University in Santiago, Chile, and is an alumnus of the fiction-writing program at the Casa de Letras in Buenos Aires. He has published the novels Tantos angelitos and Cuando los hijos duermen, as well as the short story collections Animales peligrosos, La embriaguez de Noé, and El inmenso desvío. He lives in Santiago, Chile.
