Jacek Dehnel was born in 1980. He is the author of five books of poems; two collections of short stories (Kolekcja, 1999, and Rynek w Smyrnie, 2007); a cycle of four novellas (Balzakiana, 2008); a collection of short prose pieces about old photos (Fotoplastikon, 2009); and two novels (Lala, 2006, and Saturn, 2011).
His awards include the 2005 Koscielski Foundation Literary Award in 2005 and the 2006 Paszport Polityki, and he was nominated for the 2007 Angelus and the 2009 and 2010 Nike awards. He writes columns for Wirtualna Polska and Polityka and has translated the poetry of Philip Larkin, George Szirtes, Carl Sandburg, and others.
