Hernán Bravo Varela was born in Mexico City in 1979. He is the author of six poetry collections and three essay collections, and is also the translator of work by Christina Rossetti, Emily Dickinson, Gerard Manley Hopkins, Oscar Wilde, T. S. Eliot, and Seamus Heaney into Spanish.
He has received Mexico’s National Prize for Young Poets and the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz International Literature Contest/Bicentennial Literature Prize in the essay category. He is currently the editor of the poetry magazine at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
