François Vallejo teaches literature in Le Havre.
He is the author of seven previous novels, all published with Éditions Viviane Hamy, most of which have won major literary awards: Madame Angeloso won the Prix France Télévisions 2001; Groom won both the Prix des Libraires 2004 and the Prix Culture et Bibliothèques pour tous 2004; Le Voyage des grands hommes won the Prix Pierre Mac Orlan 2005, the Prix Roman du Var 2005, and the Prix de l'Académie du Maine 2005; and Ouest won the Prix Livre Inter 2007, the Prix Giono 2006, and the Prix du meilleur roman adaptable Carte Noir 2007. It was also shortlisted for Goncourt and Renaudot.
