Colin Anderson is a translator and a retired Massey University lecturer with a specialization in French and Spanish language and literature and translation studies.
His literary translations include Harvesting the Day: Horace for the 21st Century (Steele Roberts, 2010), a Latin to English translation of Horace’s Odes, Book 1, for which he won second prize in the 2007 John Dryden International Literary Translation Competition. He also received the Judges’ Commendation in the 1999 John Dryden International Literary Translation Competition, for his French to English translation of an excerpt from Jean Rouaud’s Des hommes illustres (1993). His French to English translations of academic articles on topics in sociology, philosophy, ethnology, and cultural studies have appeared in the UNESCO journal, Diogène/Diogenes.
