Azergui is a poet and novelist, born in Tinejdad (Tafilalet) in the southeast of Morocco. Azergui studied law at the University of Meknes, and journalism and sociology at Lille University. Azergui was awarded the Qadi Kaddour Award for Creative Writing from the David Hart Foundation for Aghrum n yihaqqaren. The French translations of Aghrum n yihaqqaren (Le Pain des Corbeaux) and Ighed n tlelli (Les Cendres de la Liberté) were published in 2013. Azergui founded IFES (SEED), the literary magazine specializing in prose and translation in Berber.
