Andrei Gelasimov was born in Irkutsk in 1965. He studied at the University for International Languages in Irkutsk, and attended directing classes at the Moscow Theater Institute. He has become a Russian literary star overnight. His story íThe Sensitive Age,ë which was published on the Internet in 2002, was awarded a prize for the best debut.
In addition, it garnered the Apollon-Grigorev and the Belkin prizes. íThe Sensitive Ageë has also been included in an anthology, just out in Germany, called Russia: Twenty-One New Storytellers, and the reaction of the critics has been unanimous. The weekly Die Zeit says that íthe wonderful new storyteller Andrei Gelasimov is worth discovering.ë
