Jeremy Tiang has translated over 30 books from Chinese and has been short- or longlisted for the National Translation Award, the Warwick Prize, the Cercador Prize, and the International Booker Prize. He is the co-editor with Dr. Kavita Bhanot of Violent Phenomena: 21 Essays on Translation.
His novel State of Emergency won the Singapore Literature Prize in 2018, and he was shortlisted for the same prize for his story collection It Never Rains on National Day. Tiang also writes and translates plays, most recently Salesman之死(Connelly Theater, 2023). He teaches literary translation at Columbia University, and has been the translator-in-residence at Princeton University and the University of Iowa. Originally from Singapore, he now lives in Flushing, Queens.
