Esther Allen
Esther Allen's translations include Rex, by José Manuel Prieto, The Selected Writings of José Martí, Lands of Memory by Felisberto Hernández, Dark Back of Time by Javier Marías, and Alma Guillermoprieto's Dancing with Cuba: A Memoir of the Revolution, among others. She directs the work of the PEN Translation Fund and co-founded PEN World Voices: The New York Festival of International Literature. She edited and contributed to the International PEN report on translation and globalization, To Be Translated or Not To Be (Institut Ramon Llull, 2007). In 2009-2010 she will be a fellow at the Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library. She is an assistant professor at Baruch College, City University of New York.
