Of Taiwanese origin, Sandrine Kao was born in France and grew up in the Paris area. She is an author and illustrator for young people. Her books include La roue (2011), Le banc (2013), Jambon, fromage et potiron (2014), Le pull (2015) et Un lapin peut changer une vie (2018)....

She won multiple prizes for Le banc, among them the 2013/2014 Prix de l’invité jeunesse, the Prix Manuel Azaña 2014, the Prix Papyrus du roman jeunesse 2013/2014, and the Prix Passerelle 2014/2015, and was nominated or shortlisted for several others.
