Mahua Sen Mukhopadhyay was born and brought up in Kolkata, India, and migrated to the US. Currently she lives with her family in the suburbs of Boston. After almost thirty years in America, she still writes in her language, Bangla. She has written short stories, articles, and news articles that have been published in leading Bengali newspapers, magazines, and webzines.
She has two short story collections published in 2020 and 2024. Her two books, Kaleidoscope and Aparajita, were published by the renowned publishing house Dey’s Publishing, Kolkata. The story “Subhakankhee,” from Kaleidoscope, was selected for the first anthology of Bangla women science fiction writers, and, translated by Sayari Debnath as “The Well-wisher,” was shortlisted for the Armory Square Prize for South Asian Literature in Translation in 2024.
