Fernando O’Connor

Fernando O’Connor is an Argentine figurative painter and sketch artist....

Born in Buenos Aires in 1966 and entirely self-taught, he began exhibiting his work on a regular basis in 1997, the same year in which he travelled to Canada to represent Argentina at the fifteenth “Symposium International de la Nouvelle Peinture au Canada,” which then led to a long succession of shows at various galleries in his home country and around the world. From the beginning, his subject matter has focused on the human figure, and his work can be regarded within the realm of figurative realism and is distinctly expressionist in style. At present, his work can be defined as contemporary realism that fully explores his dialogues with artists from the strictest pictorial tradition. In 2016 and 2017 respectively, the Museo Municipal de Bellas Artes Tandil (MUMBAT) and the Museo Emilio Caraffa (MEC) in Córdoba, Argentina held his retrospective “En Proceso,” showcasing over thirty-five of his large scale works. His works can be found in public and private collections. He is currently based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
