Victoria De Stefano (Viserba, Italy, 1940) is one of the foremost Venezuelan contemporary novelists. In her novels, she achieves a unique intertwining of historical events and personal memory....

She has published eight novels: El desolvido (Ediciones Bárbara, 1970; Mondadori, 2006), La noche llama a la noche (Monte Ávila, 1985), El lugar del escritor (Alter Ego, 1992; Siglo XXI, 1993), Cabo de vida (Planeta, 1994), Historias de la marcha a pie (Oscar Todtmann, 1997; El otro, el mismo, 2005; Premio Municipal de Novela/Caracas City Council’s Best Novel Award; short-listed to the Rómulo Gallegos International Prize 1999), Lluvia (Óscar Todtmann, 2002; Candaya, 2006), Pedir demasiado (Bigotecca, 2004), and Paleografías (Alfaguara, 2010; Premio de la Crítica a la Mejor Novela del Año/Best Book of the Year Critics Award). She lives in Caracas.
