Lidija Dimkovska is one of the foremost Macedonian younger poets. Born in 1971 in Skopje, she earned a doctoral degree in Romanian literature in Bucharest, where she lived for several years....

Her prizewinning debut collection, Progenies of the East, was published in 1992, and she has since written three more books of poetry (Fire of Letters, Bitten Nails, and Nobel vs. Nobel) and has edited an anthology of young Macedonian poets. In 2004 she published her prizewinning novel Hidden Camera. In 2006 Ugly Duckling Presse published a selection of her poetry translated into English. Her poems have been translated in more than twenty languages. Since 2001 she has been living in Ljubljana, Slovenia. At the moment she is working on her new book of poetry, pH Neutral for Life and Death.
