Kalaivaathy Kaleel

Kalaivaathy Kaleel has written and published in Tamil in a weekly newspaper called Vidivelli. He hails from the Northern area of Sri Lanka, in Mannar. He is a senior writer, poet, painter and critic in Tamil literary circles in Sri Lanka. He is a presenter of Muslim programs over the SLBC (Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation)....

His story, “Rizana” published in Words without Borders,  is best described as creative nonfiction; it is an imaginative rendition of the actual case of a Sri Lankan Muslim girl, Rizana, who was executed for an alleged crime in Saudi Arabia, a case which caught the attention of the world though, in the end, with little effect on her fate. Kallel is a senior writer at the Tamil newspaper, Navamani.
