Buddhadeva Bose was one of the most important Bengali literary figures of the twentieth century, producing works in almost every form. Born in Eastern Bengal, he grew up in Noakhali and then Dhaka, where he studied English Literature at Dhaka University. Relocating to Calcutta, he was the founder and editor of the poetry magazine Kabita, as well as a professor at Jadavpur University....

Today, Bose's work remains pivotal to the modern Bengali literary canon, with increasing efforts to translate it for the rest of the world.
