Anna Guercio lives in Los Angeles, where she studies translation theory, contemporary poetry, and world literature as a doctoral candidate in comparative literature at UC Irvine. She is an alumna of Brown University and the Literary Translation M.F.A. at The University of Iowa. Besides her longtime work with José Eugenio Sánchez, she translates other writers from Spanish and is working on a collection of original poetry. Her translations and poems have appeared in various places, including the bilingually and graphically rendered title poem in Sánchez's newest book, escenas sagradas del oriente.
