Adania Shibli was born in Palestine in 1974. She received her PhD from the University of East London in Media and Cultural Studies, and she was a EUME fellow in 2011-12. Her third novel, Tafsil Thanawi, published in English as Minor Detail (tr....

Elisabeth Jaquette, 2020) by Fitzcarraldo Editions and New Directions, was awarded the 2023 LiBeraturpreis by LitProm, to be presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The book was also a finalist for the National Book Award and longlisted for the International Booker Award. Shibli has been publishing since 1996 in literary magazines in the Arab world and Europe. She has twice been awarded the Young Writer’s Award-Palestine by the A. M. Qattan Foundation for her novels Masaas (Touching, al-Adab 2002), and Kulluna Ba’eed Bethat al Miqdar ‘an al Hub (We Are All Equally Far from Love, al-Adab, 2004). The English translations of those novels, Touch (tr. Paula Haydar, 2010) and We Are All Equally Far from Love (tr. Paul Starkey, 2012), were published by Clockroot Books.  Her work has also been translated into French, German, Italian, Hebrew, and Korean.
