Words without Borders announces Eduardo Halfon’s upcoming visit to the June Jordan School for Equity

New York City, New York, February 7, 2012—Words without Borders (WWB) is pleased to announce a school visit and a public reading by Guatemalan author Eduardo Halfon in San Francisco. He will be visiting classes at the June Jordan School for Equity from March 19th through the 22nd, meeting with students, including a group of bilingual students, on multiple occasions to discuss the craft of fiction and introduce them to his writing. On Tuesday, March 20th, Words without Borders and Modern Times Bookstore will host a public reading by Halfon from his upcoming novel The Polish Boxer (Bellevue Review Press, 2012).

About Halfon’s appearance, WWB Executive Director Joshua Mandelbaum stated, “We’re very excited to be taking our first programmatic steps outside New York City and are thrilled to be working with the June Jordan School for Equity. Eduardo is one of our favorite authors so it’s a real honor to introduce him and his work to the new audiences.”

Halfon is appearing as part of a pilot program for the Words without Borders education initiative . Other upcoming appearances include Bei Dao in Chicago, Carmen Boullosa in Houston, and Galit Seliktar and Etgar Keret in New York. The program is supported by a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
