Words without Borders announces its March issue: “Correspondences in the Air: International Poetry”

New York City, New York, March 8, 2010Words without Borders (WWB) magazine announces the publication of an issue dedicated to the best in poetry from around the world.

Also, in March, Words without Borders is proud to announce the release of the Ecco Anthology of International Poetry edited by WWB poetry editor Ilya Kaminsky, and WWB editorial director Susan Harris.

Ilya Kaminsky stated, “Poetry as a language, regardless of the particular form or style, has a transcendent power. Poets have the uncanny ability to speak to one another across historical, geographic, and linguistic distances. And we have published poets that speak to each other, and to all of us, in startling ways.”

Words without Borders has a long tradition of presenting first English translations of important works by major writers, and this issue includes a first English translation of a section of Roberto Bolaño’s long poem “Tales of the Autumn in Gerona.”

In addition to Roberto Bolaño, the issue includes new work by Slovenia’s Tomaž Šalamun and Spain’s Luis García Montero; Argentina’s Sergio Chefjec and Mercedes Roffé; Cataluña’s Francesc Parcerisas; Belgium’s Charles Ducal; Germany’s Richard Wagner; The Netherlands’ Nyk de Vries; Alta Ifland; and Greece’s Jazra Khaleed, Yiannas Moundelas, and Nikos Violaris.

Join us in celebrating the release of our new anthology and these important poetic voices.
